This project began as a simple invitation to play live at a Black Friday event & transformed into a full ROMILY production with its own stage, its own story & its own ENERGY. Today, I’m excited to share the journey behind it.

A Project That Grew Into Something Bigger

Romily Kristiine Live DJ Set Some projects begin as small sparks, and suddenly you realize you’ve created something much bigger –

something that stays with you long after the last note fades. This was one of those moments.

This Romily production turned out beautifully and has already received so much positive feedback. It warms my heart to know it touched others as much as it touched me.

Kristiine Keskus invited me to create the atmosphere for their Black Friday event. I knew instantly that I didn’t want to simply stand behind a DJ booth and “play good music.”
I wanted to create an EXPERIENCE — something memorable, something people would stop for, feel, share and carry with them.

Together with Kristiine Keskus & Eventech, we built a unique stage: a 3-meter white circular platform covered in sparkling silver fabric, paired with a clean white L-Acoustics sound system and stage monitors. Everything designed so the focus remained fully on the MUSIC and the ENERGY.

I also planned the filming with intention, using three cameras to capture both the stage and the atmosphere from different angles, so the final video could carry the same energy as the live moment.

But the work didn’t end there. The next stage was a quiet, detailed week of editing — assembling footage, correcting colors, tuning the audio. Rewatching the 30-minute set over and over, second by second, until everything finally aligned.
I’ll admit… I gave myself a little overdose of watching my own face.

Why DJ Romily Mixes Are Never “Just Tracks”

For me, a MIX is never about playing tracks in a sequence.
It’s channelling. Hours of searching, feeling, choosing the right order, matching keys, shaping a flow where everything breathes as one.

It’s ENERGY — joy, softness, feminine fire, the small waves of LIFE and internal states that subtly weave themselves into the journey.

I play uplifting music because I want people to feel lighter, more alive, and a little more connected to their own HEART — even if only for a moment.

I film these sets so the FREQUENCY becomes visible, not only audible — the space, the movement, the energy that carries the music.
It becomes a memory for me, and a shared moment for anyone who couldn’t be there. Also for those somewhere in the world who may need this exact sound journey today.

A Vision Born in the Heights

Some stories begin long before the first beat drops. Nocturne XLIII carried a months-long vision within me – to create something that isn’t just music, but living energy. High above the city, where sky touches earth, I knew: this is where my frequency finds its truest form.

Rocca Tower penthouse wasn’t just a location – it became my stage. The skyline itself transformed into an instrument. I wanted to capture not only the view, but the feeling of existing between earth and sky – the perfect backdrop for a cinematic DJ performance.

200 Hours of Heart-Driven Creation

Every detail mattered. Over 200 hours of ROMILY’s preparation: shaping the story, selecting tracks with soul, mixing, color grading, learning DaVinci Resolve from scratch. The flow of light, the timing of each transition, the way sound and visuals melt into one experience.

NOCTURNE – from French tradition – was once music written for the night. Mystery, stillness, transformation. With this 43rd chapter of my Ibiza Deep Mix series, I wanted to bring that same spirit into modern form: Melodic Techno & Progressive House woven into a journey that carries you from light into night.

This isn’t just a set. This is my Frequenza. My soul in sound.

How I Became a DJ: The Journey of DJ Romily

A Childhood of Music: Finding My First Rhythm

Music has always been in my life, like a quiet hum in the background, waiting to be brought to the forefront. At just seven years old, I picked up an accordion for the first time. Little did I know, this moment would lay the foundation for my lifelong journey in music. For six years, I practiced, felt the weight of discipline, and understood the joy of creating something beautiful out of nothing. Playing music was never just about the notes; it was about expressing something deep within me.

But life has its twists and turns, and as I grew older, the pressures of reality took me away from that early love. Yet, in the quiet moments, music would still find me. It was always there, waiting for the right time to call me back.

Discovering a New World: Organizing Events and Learning from Legends

In my twenties, I found myself drawn to the energy and vibrancy of electronic music. It was more than just a genre—it was a feeling. I began organizing events, bringing international DJs like Cosmic Gate, Gareth Emery, and Paul Van Dyk to perform. Even though I wasn’t the one behind the decks, I felt the pulse of the music. I could see how it united people, how it transformed a room. It was magical.

Being backstage and experiencing the DJ life from behind the scenes gave me invaluable insight into their world—their preparation, the energy before stepping on stage, and the way they interacted with the crowd. I saw how the music they played wasn’t just tracks, but extensions of their souls, connecting deeply with the audience. This experience would later shape my journey as DJ Romily.

Even as I built a successful career in the software industry, I never strayed far from music. Organizing those events showed me just how powerful music can be in bringing people together. Though I hadn’t yet stepped behind the decks myself, the seeds of DJ Romily were being planted.

Falling in Love Again: Rediscovering Music

At 19, I made a promise to myself: every month, I’d buy a new piece of music. I started with compilations like Club Rotation, then dove deeper into the world of Armin van Buuren’s A State of Trance albums. Every beat, every transition, every melody felt like a new story, and I loved how these DJs could take their audience on a journey with just sound. It was as if their music spoke to me personally, inviting me to follow a path I hadn’t yet fully understood.

Standing in the front row at Armin van Buuren’s performances, I felt something stir inside me. The way he looked at the crowd, the way he shared his energy, it was clear—music wasn’t just a job for him. It was his passion. His mantra, “Music is my passion,” echoed in my heart. I realized then that I had the same passion; I just hadn’t found my way to express it yet.

The First Steps: Private DJ Lessons and My First Equipment

Determined to dive deeper into the world of DJing, I began taking private DJ lessons twice a week for six months. These lessons were my introduction to the technical side of DJing—learning how to mix tracks, build sets, and control the energy of a room. It wasn’t easy, but every session gave me a new perspective and brought me closer to understanding the craft.

After my lessons, I decided to take the plunge and invest in my first professional DJ setup. With my new gear, I began practicing relentlessly, recording my mixes, and sharing them on platforms like SoundCloud and YouTube. These early mixes weren’t perfect, but they were mine, and they marked the beginning of my journey as DJ Romily.

Taking a Leap: Learning from the Best

Years later, as life began to settle, I felt a pull. I enrolled in DJ and producer Masterclasses with Armin van Buuren and Deadmau5. I wanted to understand what made those magical moments on stage happen. How could they create such emotional experiences for their listeners?

The more I learned, the more I felt my confidence grow. But still, I held back. Even as I mastered blending tracks, perfecting transitions, and learned how to control the energy of a room, I wasn’t sure I’d ever have the courage to step up myself. Could I really become DJ Romily? The answer wasn’t clear yet.

Overcoming the Fear: My First Performance as DJ Romily

Fear has a funny way of holding us back, even when our hearts know what we truly want. I told my DJ instructor, “I don’t think I’ll ever perform.” The idea of stepping behind the decks in front of people terrified me. What if I wasn’t good enough? What if I made mistakes?

But then, something unexpected happened. An opportunity arose to perform. My hands shook, my heart raced, but I knew I had to try. As I stepped behind the decks for the first time as DJ Romily, I felt the crowd’s energy wash over me. It wasn’t about perfection anymore. It was about connection.

The moment I pressed play, all the fears I had melted away. In their place, there was joy, excitement, and an overwhelming sense of belonging. I wasn’t just playing music—I was sharing a piece of myself. And that, I realized, was what being DJ Romily was all about.

Since that first performance, I’ve learned something invaluable: music isn’t just something I do—it’s who I am. DJ Romily isn’t just a name or a persona; it’s the embodiment of everything I’ve worked for, everything I’ve felt. It’s the joy of creating, the fear of taking risks, and the triumph of overcoming those fears.

Now, every time I stand behind the decks, I’m reminded of how far I’ve come—from a seven-year-old learning the accordion to a woman who embraced her passion later in life. As DJ Romily, I’m finally living the truth I’ve always known: Music is my passion.
